Introduction to the project

One of the most critical aspects to be taken into account by tapware manufacturers during the product design is the operational noise during the fluid-dynamic operation.

The project ZeroNoise began with the aim to implement an acoustic damper for sanitary tapware able to create conditions under which noise, generated by a sanitary tap during its normal operation, should be maintained at levels not exceeding the required reference standard values. Objective of the project ZeroNoise is to reduce the sound pressure, propagated by the user, through the positioning of an acoustic damper specifically designed.

Objectives of the project

The project has the objective to create the conditions under which noise, generated by a sanitary tap during its normal operation, should be maintained at levels not exceeding the required reference suitability values.

In particular, the main results are:

  • Implementation of a prototype that, in addition to the hydraulic valves, is able to break down or reduce the intrinsic noise of the tapware;
  • Improvement of knowledge related to European standards and to the relevant regulatory requirements, allowing the team to develop a new know-how with improvement proposals for the standards of European technical commissions.

Tecnolab’s role in the project

The ZeroNoise project is leaded by Tecnolab del Lago Maggiore Srl. As reference company Tecnolab coordinates the planning, the prototyping and the testing of the accessory device able to reduce noise generated by a sanitary tap.
